About WQSE

The 1st Brazilian Workshop on Quantum Software Engineering (WQSE) aims to establish a national forum dedicated to the emerging research area of Quantum Software Engineering (QSE). QSE investigates principles, methods, tools, and practices to systematically develop, test, maintain, and evolve software that interacts with or runs on quantum computing platforms.

While quantum computing hardware has advanced significantly in recent years, software engineering methodologies for quantum systems remain immature. Developing quantum software introduces new challenges, including hybrid quantum-classical architectures, probabilistic execution semantics, noise-aware design, testing and debugging difficulties, lack of mature tooling, and the need for new abstraction models. These challenges demand the adaptation and reinvention of traditional Software Engineering (SE) concepts.

In 2026, QSE is co-located with the 17th Brazilian Conference on Software: Theory and Practice (CBSoft 2026).
